Understand Our Terms of Service and Website Usage Policies
Review the guidelines that govern your interaction with our Standardbred community platform and resources.

Agreement to Terms and Conditions
Accessing the Standardbred Pleasure Horse Organization of New Jersey (SPHO-NJ) website establishes a binding agreement between you and our organization. We built this platform to support off-the-track Standardbreds and the people who care for them. By navigating our resources, registering for events, or participating in member programs, you accept the rules outlined here.
If these conditions do not align with your expectations, you must stop using the site immediately. We enforce these guidelines to maintain a safe, reliable space for all members and to protect the website tools that keep our non-profit operational.
Content Usage and Intellectual Property
Our volunteers and contributors spend countless hours developing breed-specific resources, training guides, and event documentation. This material belongs to SPHO-NJ or our specific content licensors. You receive a limited, personal license to view and download these materials strictly for non-commercial purposes.
Printing a care guide for your barn is perfectly fine. Scraping our articles to populate a commercial equestrian blog or repackaging our adoption transition protocols for profit violates this license. We encourage sharing our mission; linking directly to our pages is always welcome and helps promote the Standardbred breed. However, copying the text itself to host on your own domain strips the context and violates our copyright. You cannot redistribute, modify, or republish our intellectual property without explicit written permission from our board.
Acceptable Use of Our Platform
Community trust relies on honest interactions. When you submit forms for clinic registrations, award programs, or membership renewals, you must provide accurate, current information. Fraudulent entries disrupt our event planning and drain volunteer resources.
We also require users to respect the technical infrastructure of the site. Attempting to bypass security measures, overload our servers, or deploy malicious code directly harms the organization. This extends to how you interact with other members through any community features we host. Harassment, spamming, or distributing promotional material without authorization makes the site less useful for members. Any unlawful, abusive, or disruptive activity will result in immediate termination of your access to our digital platforms.
Educational Scope and Warranty Disclaimer
We provide information on equine care and adoption transitions as an educational baseline—drawing on established Standardbred rehabilitation practices. However, we offer this material without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Veterinary science and training methodologies evolve rapidly.
Medical and Training Notice: We do not guarantee that every article reflects the most current medical consensus or remains entirely error-free. You must consult a qualified equine veterinarian or certified trainer before applying any health or training advice found on this platform to your specific horse.
Limitation of Liability
Managing horses inherently involves risk. SPHO-NJ assumes no liability for damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website. This limitation covers direct, indirect, incidental, and consequential losses.
If a training technique discussed in our archives yields unexpected results, or if a site outage prevents you from accessing a show premium before a deadline, the organization is not legally responsible for those outcomes. This protection applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ensuring our non-profit resources remain dedicated to our core mission of promoting the Standardbred rather than funding legal defense.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The laws of the State of New Jersey govern these terms, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal dispute related to your use of the SPHO-NJ website falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent local courts in New Jersey. We structure our policies to comply with regional non-profit and digital operation standards.
Before initiating any formal legal proceedings, we require users to contact our board of directors to attempt a good-faith resolution. Most misunderstandings regarding site usage or content licensing can be resolved through direct, transparent communication. If a judge determines that a specific clause within this document is unenforceable, that ruling does not invalidate the rest of the agreement. The remaining sections will continue in full force and effect.
Policy Updates and Contact Information
Digital platforms require periodic policy adjustments. We update these terms to reflect new features, legal requirements, or changes in how we deliver member services. Your continued use of the site following any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the new terms. If you find any portion of these guidelines unclear, reach out through our Contact Us page before proceeding.
Stop treating terms of service as invisible boilerplate. Read the acceptable use and content licensing sections thoroughly to understand exactly how you can use our Standardbred resources, and stay within those boundaries to protect the integrity of our community platform.
